KOKO’s restored Victorian theatre in Camden has long been a space where architecture and music meet. With the launch of KOKO Electronic, promoter Harry Franklyn is writing a new chapter in the building’s storied history, running late-night sessions every Friday and Saturday that bridge its 1980s rave past with today’s underground electronic scene.
The series is a deliberate nod to the venue’s former life as Camden Palace, a cradle of acid house and Chicago house that shaped a generation of London clubbers. Franklyn, a devoted follower of acid and techno, sees the project not as nostalgia but as a continuation, bringing established DJs and live acts to fresh audiences while staying true to the culture that defined the space.
On Saturday 25th July, that vision played out across a carefully curated line-up. Rosie Ama and babyschön opened with poised, instinctive selections that gently built the room’s energy. Logan Fisher, founder of Tryouts, followed with a tightly wound set that raised the pressure, paving the way for Paranoid London. Their raw acid lines and pounding kick drums pushed the theatre to full intensity.
Closing duties fell to Chida, who shifted gears with a controlled, warm finale. Rather than simply sustaining the peak, he guided the night toward a restrained, satisfying close. The production matched the music: KOKO’s sound system delivered clarity and weight without excess, while the lighting design enhanced the theatre’s ornate features instead of overwhelming them.

تئاتر ویکتوریایی بازسازی‌شدهٔ KOKO در کمدن، فضایی است که معماری و موسیقی در آن به هم گره می‌خورند. هری فرانکلین، پروموتر KOKO Electronic، با اجرای شب‌های آخر هفته (جمعه و شنبه) در این مکان، فصل تازه‌ای از تاریخ پرفرازونشیب آن را رقم می‌زند؛ مجموعه‌ای که گذشتهٔ ریوی دههٔ هشتادی این سالن را با صحنهٔ زیرزمینی امروز پیوند می‌دهد.
KOKO Electronic ادای دینی آگاهانه به دوران Camden Palace است، جایی که اسید هاوس و شیکاگو هاوس نسلی از کلاب‌روهای لندنی را پرورش داد. فرانکلین که خود از علاقه‌مندان قدیمی اسید و تکنو به‌شمار می‌آید، این پروژه را نه یک نوستالژی‌بازی، که ادامهٔ همان فرهنگ می‌داند؛ بردن دی‌جی‌ها و لایو اکت‌های مطرح به میان مخاطبانی تازه، بی‌آنکه از ریشه‌های زیرزمینی فاصله بگیرد.
شنبه ۲۵ ژوئیه، این دیدگاه با لاین‌آپی حساب‌شده جان گرفت. Rosie Ama و babyschön با سلیقه‌ای غریزی و کنترل‌شده فضا را ساختند و انرژی سالن را آرام‌آرام بالا بردند. لوگان فیشر، بنیان‌گذار Tryouts، با ستی فشرده و بی‌تعارف فشار را افزایش داد و زمینه را برای Paranoid London فراهم کرد. لاین‌های اسیدی خام و کیک‌درام‌های سنگین آن‌ها تئاتر را به اوج انرژی رساند.
پایان شب به Chida سپرده شد که با تغییری حساب‌شده، حال‌وهوای سالن را به سمت گرمایی مهارشده برد. او به‌جای حفظ صرف انرژی، شب را با خویشتن‌داری و ظرافت به فرود آورد. پروداکشن هم‌سطح موسیقی بود: سیستم صوتی KOKO شفافیت و قدرت را بدون افراط ارائه داد و طراحی نور به‌جای رقابت با معماری، شکوه تئاتر را قاب گرفت.
