Set inside the transparent Stallhagen Dome on the Åland Islands, Kokong Festival returns for its 2026 edition on July 31 and August 1. Curated by the Ström Cultural Association, the independent gathering has quietly become one of the Nordic region’s most distinctive appointments for experimental electronic and electroacoustic music.
This year’s line-up pairs international names with a strong Åland-based contingent. Nadia Struiwigh, Samuli Kemppi, Daniel Savio, Simone Ghetti, DJ Aleksi, Lauren Sarah Hayes, Yard One and Svenska Discokyrkan are all confirmed, alongside a range of local artists working across ambient, techno, sound art and interdisciplinary performance.
Rather than chasing peak-time energy, Kokong builds its identity around atmosphere and environment. The dome’s architecture erases the usual barrier between stage and landscape, letting daylight fade naturally into the Baltic evening as live electronics, electroacoustic pieces and audiovisual installations unfold. It’s a setting designed as much for shared discovery as for concentrated listening.
Now a fixed point on the Nordic cultural calendar, Kokong continues to offer an alternative vision of what a contemporary electronic music festival can be — one where nature, technology and artistic exchange carry equal weight, and where the journey to a remote archipelago becomes part of the experience itself.
