Massane and Qrion operate in adjacent corners of melodic electronic music, yet their sensibilities lock together with a rare ease. The French producer weaves guitar textures into driving house and techno, while the Sapporo-born, Austin-based Qrion drifts between introspective electronics and dancefloor-focused warmth. On August 9th, the two will test that chemistry in public, going back-to-back at Waterfront Park in San Diego for FNGRS CRSSD x CROSS POLLINATION.
The event, curated by Lane 8, is built around the idea of unexpected pairings. The lineup also includes Lane 8 b2b Sultan + Shepard, Yotto b2b Kasbo, and Ashibah b2b Grigoré — a full day of collaborative sets designed to pull melodic house and techno into new shapes.
To frame the mood, Massane and Qrion compiled ten tracks that reflect their shared language. The list moves from the classical-tinged synth work of Stephan Bodzin and Marc Romboy’s “Kerberos” to the raw breakbeat emotion of Overmono and High Contrast’s “If We Ever.” There is space for the legendary melodies of John Digweed and Dino Lenny’s “Love & Cream,” the disco-sampling chaos of Gerd Janson and Shan’s “Surrender,” and the ’90s rave bassline of Mat.Joe and CamelPhat’s “World In Action.”
“I love this track. It’s incredibly simple, but it explores classical harmonies we’re not used to hearing in this genre,” Massane says of “Kerberos.” Qrion points to the dreamy collision of Lone and KETTAMA on “The Way You Feel”: “The best part is that I can hear both of their styles in one song.”

لاین‌آپ این برنامه که با عنوان CROSS POLLINATION طراحی شده، پر از ترکیب‌های غیرمنتظره است: لین ایت بک تو بک سلطان + شپرد، یوتو بک تو بک کاسبو، و اشیبه بک تو بک گریگوره. ایده اصلی، محو کردن مرزهای معمول ملودیک هاوس و تکنو از طریق اجراهای مشترک است.
برای ترسیم حال‌وهوای این بک تو بک، ماسان و کیوریون ده ترک انتخاب کرده‌اند که زبان مشترکشان را روایت می‌کند. از هارمونی‌های کلاسیک-وار «کربروس» ساخته اشتفان بودزین و مارک رومبوی گرفته تا بریک‌بیت خام و احساسی «اگر تا به حال» از اورمونو و های کنترست. ملودی‌های افسانه‌ای «عشق و کرم» جان دیگوید و دینو لنی، سمپل‌های دیسکوی دیوانه‌وار «تسلیم» گرد جانسون و شان، و بیس‌لاین ریو دهه نودی «جهان در عمل» مت.جو و کمل‌فت هم در این لیست جا دارند.
ماسان درباره «کربروس» می‌گوید: «عاشق این ترکم. به طرز باورنکردنی‌ای ساده است، اما هارمونی‌های کلاسیکی را کاوش می‌کند که در این ژانر عادت به شنیدنش نداریم.» کیوریون هم به برخورد رویایی لون و کتاما در «آن طور که حس می‌کنی» اشاره می‌کند: «بهترین بخشش این است که می‌توانم استایل هر دویشان را در یک آهنگ بشنوم.»
